Program Overview

Program Overview

Mwai Wosinthika (Chance4Change) is a transformative program designed to reach vulnerable youth in communities, reform schools, and juvenile correctional facilities. The program provides a second chance through career guidance, psychosocial support, and skills development for at-risk youth.

Program Description

In this program, OCG in collaboration with its partners in the Justice system helps children (especially street and vulnerable or marginalized children) that are either in conflict with the law and have been diverted from the formal criminal justice system and or those in possible conflict with the law to change their circumstances. This is a program where such children are gathered every Wednesday in the afternoon hours and taken through the career exploration process and the importance of making career decisions for them to remain focused and avoid conflicting with the law. Children's aspirations are then collected and later, OCG brings in role models according to the children's aspirations to inspire them about the world of work.

Sometimes, depending on the children's situations, Counsellors are also brought in to counsel them.

Program Impact

Since OCG became a partner of Irish Rule of Law International and Chisomo Children's Club to this program in June 2015, more than 12 children have returned to school and are being supported by OCG with school fees under the Go Back 2 School project.
